A. Flohr Sacramento Percussion Target Rifle

Andrew Flohr fine percussion hunting rifle in .48 caliber, made in Sacramento. The rifle is a fine half-stocked percussion hunting rifle with octagonal barrel, double-set triggers, and iron mounts. It is stamped A. Flohr on the top of the barrel, and has 6 small grooves filed into the stock on the bottom, just in front of the toe of the butt plate. The stock is very fine, with a carved cheek rest. This rifle is discussed extensively in Mr. Shelton's book on California Gunsmiths, and is illustrated twice in the book. Size: 49 inches long overall, with a 32 1/2 inch barrel. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $75.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.

Provenance:Shelton Collection

Condition:

Exceptionally nice condition, with the barrel retaining almost all of its original blue finish turning to brown. The stock is about excellent, and the action is crisp and tight. The tang has been tapped for additional sights. The stamping of A. Flohr is a little uneven on the barrel, but it is absolutely correct. The bore is excellent, with very deep rifling. In Mr. Shelton's book he states that the gun had been rebored from a target rifle to a hunting caliber. Clearly if that is the case, it was rebored by an exceptional gun maker.
