Colt Revolving Rifle Model 1855 Civilian Model Serial No. 4

Extremely rare .36 caliber Model 1855 Colt Revolving Rifle of carbine length, made for the civilian market, although many were sold to the military. This version has no forend stock, and the butt is curved with a slightly fancier butt plate than those sold directly to the military. Technical Description: .36 caliber percussion side hammer six shot revolving rifle with under the barrel loading lever, no forend stock, two spurs on the trigger guard tang. Serial number 342, made between 1855 and 1864, barrel length: 24 inches. Overall length: 43 ¼ inches. Cylinder length is 2 ½ inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $125 plus a 1.5% replacement cost insurance fee. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.

Condition:

Overall good-. The weapon is without finish, lightly rusted overall. The action is not working, and the gun is missing its sights, several screws, and presumably its main spring. The stock is missing two slivers of wood, one just behind the hammer, the other at the end of the tang. The cylinder pin may be a replacement. There is a piece broken off the very front of the trigger guard. The frame, loading lever, and loading plunger are serial numbered, with 24 being visible on the frame, 342 on the plunger, and 24 on the loading lever. The Colt markings on the top of the breech are present but faint. The cylinder spins, and the hammer moves freely. The loading lever works.
