Dwight D. Eisenhower White House China Service Plate
Official White House china service plate ordered by President Dwight D. Eisenhower's wife in 1955. Plate features a gilt Presidential Seal in center with a wide rim covered in coin gold with a raised pinwheel pattern. Manufacturing process required eight separate firings to acquire the desired look and finish. Reverse side is stamped "Castleton Studios, Made in U.S.A., The White House, November 1955." This piece is one of just 120 large service plates ordered by The First Lady in 1955 because Presidents Truman and Roosevelt already ordered large presidential china sets before the Eisenhower's.
Dimensions: 11 1/2" in diameter.
