Identified 1851 Colt Navy Revolver and Holster
Provenance:Private collection Chico, CA
Condition:
Good overall showing heavy use. Majority of the revolver shows a heavy brown patina with scattered freckling. A few period replaced screws. Brass shows a moderate, unpolished mustard color patina. Top of grips show areas of missing wood, on both sides located at the frame/backstrap juncture. Mainspring is defective prohibiting hammer from remaining at full cocked position, and rotation of the cylinder. Overall, a most colorful Colt with history that deserves further research.
