Massive Bull Barrel Terre Haute Plains Rifle

A massive percussion plains rifle with extremely heavy octagonal barrel, double set triggers, and the single screw lock plate engraved “Terre Haute,” The rifled bore is .50 caliber. The barrel has buckhorn iron sights, with a simple blade front sight, and is unmarked. The brass mounts are simple,, and slightly primitive. Weight is about 30 pounds. Dimensions: 49.5 inches long overall. The barrel is 34 inches long. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $65.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

The stock has several cracks, and there is a large chip missing at the toe of the butt. The ramrod has a sliver missing at the top. The barrel is very dark, with minor pitting. The lock plate has been cleaned, but is nicely engraved with pheasants, and the name “Terre Haute” is quite clear. The vent appears to be blocked, but the lock functions well.
