Model 1841 USN Derringer Pistol

A very scarce US Navy Derringer box lock model 1841 pistol, dated 1847. The lock is the type made for the US Navy by Derringer and Ames, with the hammer inside the lockplate, and brass mounts. Dimensions: 12 inches long overall, with the barrel being 6 inches long. Processing and shipping in the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

The wood has been refinished, but the outline of the cartouche is visible. The letters PR are carved into the area of the sideplate. The steel is dark overall, with patches of pitting on both lockplate and barrel. The lock functions extremely well. The swivel on the rammer appears to be a modern replacement, although the ramrod itself appears to be original.

Estimate: $500 - $1,000
