Samish Ceramic Art Co. Pottery Cup for the 1915 P.P.I.E

Samish Ceramic Art Co., Stockton St., San Francisco monogrammed pottery cup made for the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition. Bears PPIE mark on underside. Gilt rim, handle and monogram. Decorated with image of Perham Wilhelm Nahl's "The Thirteenth Labor of Hercules" which was the Official poster for the Exposition. Hercules presses his muscled back against a Panama rock facade to show the way to San Francisco’s Jewel City in the distance. Dimensions: 6.12"h x 3.5"w (excluding handle). Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.  The Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915 celebrated the opening of the Panama Canal and the rebirth of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. It took place on what is today's Marina District. Samish Ceramic Art Co. had a display at the Exposition and his display was voted the most exclusive and original in designs in his class.
