Two George Ohr (1857-1918), "The Mad Potter of Biloxi", ceramic vessels. Impressed on underside, "Geo E. Ohr / Biloxi (Miss)". Dimensions: (rounded opening) 2"h; (footed) 2.25"h. Provenance: Andy Warhol Collection / Sothebys (accompanied by tag with "1156/4" handwritten on tag. Ohr, born in Mississippi, has been called the father of American pottery and is recognized for his innovative sculptural vessels with incredibly thin pinched, crimped, fluted and manipulated walls. He made ceramic souvenirs such as ceramic hats, plaques of Southern buildings and children's banks to support his family. To draw attention to his wares, he adapted an eccentric persona and became known locally as the "Mad Potter of Biloxi".  Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Very good. Footed vessel has one rim chip (approx. .12 - .25") and one very small chip on base (less than .12").
