Civil War Era Sword and Scabbard

A very interesting unmarked sword and scabbard with hilt and scabbard apparently of German silver, with a straight, un-engraved blade that has been service sharpened. It has a bird’s head pommel, and two branches to the guard. The grip is brown leather, with two strands of brass wire wrap.  The toe of the scabbard is a separate piece of iron that has been attached to the scabbard. The blade has a single fuller, and is completely unmarked. There is a screw attachment with a piece of leather on the underside of the guard, possibly for a sword knot. Dimensions: 33 inch blade and 40 inches long overall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance .

Condition:

The hilt and scabbard are excellent, as is the grip. The blade is rusted, and service sharpened, but otherwise very good, with no pitting. The iron toe of the scabbard is rusted. A screw to the scabbard throat is missing.
