Samurai Sword Katana in Civilian Mounts, with Surrender Tag

A very fine and interesting civilian katana, with a very fine blade, a very early tsuba, and ornate mounts. The blade has fullers on both sides, and a cloudy hamon that is exceptionally clear. The blade is in an excellent state of polish. The tsuba is iron, with leaf shaped but outs, as well as a cut out for the side knife, which is present. The mounts are apparently blackened iron with gilded highlights. The grip wrap appears to be silk, and the menuki may be seated human figures. The scabbard is lacquered wood, with a black cloth strap. The tang is longer than usual, and has two holes in it, so the blade has almost certainly been remounted in the past. There are extensive inscriptions on the tang. Dimensions: The blade is 27 inches long, and the sword is 41.25 inches long overall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Excellent. The tsuba is loose, but could be tightened by rearranging the sepa. There are two very small lines of black rust on the blade, but they are difficult to even see.
