French Napoleonic Imperial Cuirassier Sword and Scabbard

This is an extremely fine and massive 1813 dated French Cuirassier sword and scabbard, complete with original leather finger loop in the guard. The blade has been polished, so the inscription on the back of the blade is partially obscured, but October 1813 is still legible. This was probably done when the sword passed into Bourbon hands. The scabbard is also bright, so the sword may have continued in use for some time, as was common in French service. The number 200 is stamped on both sides at the ricasso. The number 84 is stamped on the underside of the guard. The brass ferrule is present at the base of the grip. The sword is extremely well balanced for its size. Dimensions: the blade is 37.5 inches long and the sword is 46 inches long overall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Excellent overall, with the finger loop being dry. The leather grip is excellent, but it is missing the original wire wrap. The blade is bright and clean. The scabbard is bright, with light freckling of rust.
